Can you advertise on ChatGPT?

Check advertiser eligibility, serving markets, and category fit against OpenAI’s documented lists — updated from our field notes.

Eligibility for ChatGPT ads is two separate questions, not one. Advertiser access asks whether you can open an account and buy from your billing country. Serving access asks whether ChatGPT users in your target market are shown ads at all. A market can grant one without the other, and most confusion comes from treating them as a single gate.

Free to use. The headline verdict is shown immediately; the full market table asks for an email.

How to use it

  1. Select the billing country the ad account would be opened from.
  2. Select the market whose ChatGPT users you want to reach.
  3. Choose the category your product or service falls into.
  4. Read the verdict as three separate signals: advertiser access, serving access, and category fit.

What it reports

Advertiser access
Whether an account can be opened and funded from your billing country.
Serving access
Whether ChatGPT users in your target market are shown ads today.
Category fit
Whether your vertical falls inside a restricted or prohibited category.
Audience carve-outs
Which users are excluded from seeing ads regardless of market.

Worth knowing

Advertiser and serving coverage are verified at different dates and move independently. Mexico, for example, shifted from Coming Soon to Available on or around 13 August 2026, while Brazil sits on the advertiser list without Brazilian users being served ads. Treat every verdict as accurate to its stated verification date, not as a permanent status.

Common questions

Can I advertise on ChatGPT from any country?

No. Advertiser access is limited to a documented list of billing countries, and it is separate from whether ChatGPT users in a given market are served ads. You can be eligible to buy while being unable to reach the audience you actually want.

What is the difference between advertiser access and serving access?

Advertiser access is your ability to open and fund an ad account from a billing country. Serving access is whether ChatGPT users in a target market see ads at all. Markets grant these independently, and one does not imply the other.

Which categories cannot advertise on ChatGPT?

OpenAI maintains prohibited and restricted category lists covering areas such as adult content, weapons, gambling, and regulated financial and health claims. Restricted categories may be permitted with additional review rather than blocked outright.

Does this checker use my ad account data?

No. It compares the inputs you select against OpenAI’s published lists and our verification notes. Nothing is read from an ad account, and no account connection is required.
